Is this the love that's made to last?

I ask the runes

For her, Ehwaz (ᛖ), the horse

(upside down, so that it looks like a W)

For me the cup, Perthro (ᛈ)

and between us Wunjo (ᚹ)

the rune of joy

When she begins to trust her hooves

to run to where they'll run to

surrounded by her herd at times

at times, all alone

When she becomes a Woman

in all her power and magick

and not a girl becoming

what she is

When I can learn to fill my cup

from wells that bring me life

how to sip it slowly

how not to spill it on the ground

When I become a man

sure of who I am

when once again

my cup, it overflows

Then will come the joy

and then will come the garden

and then will come the children of your dreams

Although nothing will look as it did in the dreaming

all will change shape as it steps from the mind into matter

I ask the stones now

Do I have her love?

My fingers fumble in the bag

until one stone catches

I pull it out

the dark stone

negative

"NOT YET"

And so I'll drink my cup

and wait a while

I will read and write and draw

I will dream and breath and sit

I will warm my hands and smile at what's to come
