Shapes of Passion

Updated: Nov 15, 2023

In this collection of three works by Lesley Bodzy, we can see different shapes that the heart takes in its bouts of passion. Love crumples in its attempts to write itself into words and express them to its lover, or loses its rigidity and melts like ice cream in August heat, or sometimes love is a thing that brings us to boil until we are overflowing.

Take a moment to feel each of these pieces in your heart, read the accompanying quote, and let us know which one you most related to.

"Love Letter I" 2022. Acrylic mounted on velvet, wood frame, 20 1/2 x 17 1/2 x 3 inches

"Nothing is real. Go let love destroy you."

-Anonymous

“Lust,” 2022. Acrylic and foam, 24 x 20 x 8 inches.

“It is true that those we meet can change us, sometimes so profoundly that we are not the same afterwards, even unto our names.”

-Yann Martel, Life of Pi

“Overflowing with Desire,” 2022. Acrylic and wood, 8 x 8 x 8 inches

"Desire is a strong feeling, worthy or unworthy, that impels one toward the attainment or possession of something that is (in reality or imagination) within reach."

- Lesley Bodzy
